We’re very pleased to announce that Jack Walker has become our latest BRC Global Standards Professional. We had an opportunity to find out more about his role and why he chose BRC Global Standards.

WHY BRC GLOBAL STANDARDS PROFESSIONAL?

The programme looked like a good opportunity for an industry recognised qualification within an established food safety network. I had been planning on completing the required courses anyway, but being a part of the programme encouraged me to complete them faster. My manager was fully supportive throughout and I’m pleased to have achieved this additional qualification.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR CAREER TO DATE:

After completing my A-levels in Food, Business and IT, I enrolled in a BSc of Food and Consumer Management at University College Birmingham. Whilst at University I took the opportunity to complete a 48-week industrial placement at The Crucial Sauce Company in Birmingham which formed part of my formal degree. I then continued working there as a Quality Manager throughout my final year of University. The Crucial Sauce Company was bought out by British Pepper & Spice in 2013, and after I graduated in 2015 I moved to Northampton where I worked with key accounts such as M&S and Tesco. My experience has heavy factory involvement, with me being the site’s team leader for HACCP and TACCP.

HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR CAREER PROGRESSING?

I hope to become a Quality Manager within the next 18 months.
